For Dan, owning a home wasn't just about getting on the property ladder. It was about creating a secure and happy future for himself and his young son.
Before purchasing through Shared Ownership at Hawthorn Grove, Dan was living with his parents while working towards his goal of owning a home. Finding the right property was important, particularly one that would be close to work and his son's school.
When Dan discovered his new home at Hawthorn Grove, he knew it was perfect.
"I remember applying back in February for this house and worrying that it wouldn't be mine because it was perfect for my work and my son's school. The closing date came and went, and then a week later I received the call to say the house would be mine. I started to cry, which nearly set Gemma from VIVID off too! After a few years of trying, I was finally able to give myself and, most importantly, my son a place to call our own."
Dan describes the buying journey as seamless from start to finish and praises the support he received throughout the process.
"The whole experience with Shared Ownership was amazing. Zoe, Nikki and Gemma were flawless from start to finish. Even though I'd bought a home before, this time I was doing it as a single parent, so it felt very different. Gemma was always on hand to help and replied to emails really quickly, which made everything so much easier."
Now settled into his new VIVID home, Dan is enjoying everything that comes with having a place of his own.
"The best thing is having a place to call home and somewhere that me and my little boy can put our own stamp on. The location is perfect for school and work, and the neighbours have been amazing. A nice surprise on viewing day was finding that the house came with more than I expected, and the finishing touches were perfect."
Although Hawthorn Grove is still growing as a community, Dan already knows he's found somewhere special.
"The development is still being built, but I know already that this is going to be home for years to come. The roads are really safe because it's a cul-de-sac, and it's so peaceful and quiet."
